Biography

Todd was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, before moving to the United States to further his education. Todd met his wife, Katie, while he was completing his undergraduate work before moving to Springfield, Missouri to attend the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Todd and Katie relocated to the Twin Cities area towards the end of 2002 to be closer to her family.

Todd is the first full-time personal and career development counselor to join the NCU staff, but has an interesting history in a variety of counseling settings. Todd likes to approach counseling in a very interactive, participatory fashion. As a visual learner himself, he finds creative ways to work with students to help them through whatever situation they are struggling with. Todd has dealt with his fair share of crisis situations while working in several residential treatment center settings and Missouri’s premier in-patient child and adolescent psychiatric hospital. Professionally, Todd is licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Licensed Professional Counselor [LPC] in addition to holding the credentials of being a National Certified Counselor [NCC]. In regard to organizational affiliations, Todd is a member of the American Counseling Association, American College Counseling Association, Christian Association for Psychological Studies, and the Association of Christians in Student Development.

Todd’s passion for working with students to understand and take ownership of their “life’s call” is evident from the time you begin a conversation with him. His laid back, easy natured Australian charisma is something every student should experience before leaving NCU.

Biography

Rachel grew up in northern Virginia just outside of Washington, DC. She spent a year at Evangel University in Springfield, MO before transferring to North Central to complete her degree in Education.She met her husband Nick at North Central and they now live in St. Paul.

In addition to providing academic support, Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge to assist students in navigating through North Central University. As a graduate of NCU with professional experiences working in both the Student Success Center and Student Life, Rachel quickly understands exactly what students are facing when they seek out her services. Rachel’s warm, understanding nature is experienced from the moment one begins a conversation with her; and her love for NCU drives her desire to see others succeed.

Rachel is a teacher licensed by the State of Minnesota. She also holds professional affiliations with the National Association of Developmental Education and the Minnesota Association of Higher Education and Disability.

Biography

Amanda was born in the beautiful state of Montana, but has lived in Minnesota for most of her life. She and her husband, Jerod, live at Northwestern College where he is the Resident Director of the men’s dorm. This enables them both to not only work with the age population they love, but live among them and share life experiences with them.

Amanda works as the SSC counseling intern. She also works part time at Bethel University, where she is completing her master’s of arts in Counseling Psychology. Amanda’s approach to counseling is very collaborative. She enjoys engaging with students, learning together, and walking alongside them as they learn more about themselves and who they really are in eyes of God. Through this process, she hopes you see things in a new light. Amanda enjoys helping all students as they continue to develop and grow, but especially has a passion for helping other women dealing with relationship issues, and anxiety struggles. She hopes that you would meet with her without fear or shame, but rather with an excitement to see change.

  • Matthew is currently a Senior in the Pastoral Studies program at North Central.

Experience

  • Matthew has been a tutor for the past three years and has also served as a Teacher's Assistant.

Biography

Matt was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He spent his early childhood in the east-metro suburbs until his family moved to Prescott, Wisconsin where he graduated from high school. After high school, Matt attended Brown College and received an Associated Degree in Broadcasting. Matt is a Cancer Survivor and achieved his Associates Degree in the midst of chemotherapy and radiation treatments for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

In 1995 he met and married his wife Tanya. The couple moved back to the Twin Cities to be closer to their church and workplaces. For several years, Matt worked in the Information Technology field for several companies while also serving as the youth pastor in his church. After being laid off several times following 9/11, Matt decided to return to school to get formal training for a new career in full-time ministry and enrolled in classes begining in the Fall of 2003.
Matt is scheduled to complete his undergraduate studies in the Spring of 2007 and is planning to attend graduate school.

Matt has a passion for young people and seeks to be of assistance to students as they begin their own life journey. He enjoys assisting students develop and sharpen their academic skills and abilities, as well as providing specialized assistance with the required Bible and Theology classes.
